CEDAR CITY — Move over, Clark Griswold. Cedar City residents Ben Hohman and Marielle Boneau have once again lit up their home (and surrounding neighborhood) with an impressive holiday light display that must be seen in person to be fully appreciated.

Located at 26 N. 1150 West in Cedar City (click here for map), the popular attraction has been drawing sizable crowds since its opening night Dec. 2.

Now in its 14th year, the annual display not only serves as a creative outlet for Hohman and Boneau, it also generates funds for Make-A-Wish Utah. To date, the display has already generated more than $15,000 in donations for the Utah chapter of the non-profit Make-A-Wish Foundation over the past 13 years, Hohman said, adding that he and Boneau also chip in the value of their December electric bill to the organization.

“Donations to Make-A-Wish are up about 10 percent over last year,” Hohman told Cedar City News. “The weather has been good and looks to be that way for most of the rest of the month.”

Hohman said the display, which grows in size each year, now includes more than 60,000 lights, 55 plastic blow-molds, 19 lighted wire animal sculptures, 33 inflatables, a homemade 9-foot wreath, three wire-frame animated sculptures and additional decorations.

Those visiting the display may choose to park their cars and take a short stroll down “Candy Cane Lane,” which winds through the home’s backyard, making the attraction possibly the only walk-through holiday display in town, according to Hohman.

Additionally, the lights in the front of the home, along with many of the lights in the backyard, are choreographed to “dance” along with the music of some 20 different Christmas songs.

Donations to Make-A-Wish may be made by placing money in the collection box at the display, or they can be sent electronically by visiting the display’s website and clicking on the large green “Donate” button.

The display may be viewed between 5:30-10 p.m. each evening until its final night Dec. 31.
