ST. GEORGE — U.S. Senate candidate Mitt Romney and Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert will be keynote speakers for this year’s Small Business Summit in St. George.

Pam Palmero, president and CEO of the St. George Area Chamber of Commerce, said Romney and Herbert are influential when it comes to business.

“For Romney, this isn’t about his campaign; he’s just a great business man,” she said.

Romney will give a 30-minute presentation on how to run a successful business and then open the floor to a question-and-answer period for 15 to 20 minutes.

Herbert will also give a presentation on business, after which he will receive a Champion of Business Award from the Chamber of Commerce.

The summit is open to the public and costs $75 for chamber members and $100 for nonmembers. Prices go up June 1.

Among the presenters will be James Garrett, speaking about brain health; Logan Sisam, emergency preparedness; and Gloria Bertram, human resources.

The Business Expo will also take place June 13 at the Dixie Center from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and is free to the public.

The cost for a business to receive a booth at the expo is $100 for chamber members and $150 for nonmembers. However, businesses can qualify for a discount if they are a Washington County business and not a nonprofit. Businesses can fill out a form to apply for the discount. Palmero estimated there are only five booth spots available.

The expo allows businesses to display their products and services to the public and other businesses. The expo will feature a prize-balloon drop and0 hourly drawings; individual vendors will conduct promotional giveaways at their booths.
