ST. GEORGE — A man driving an off-highway vehicle was seriously injured after rolling the vehicle on a beach at Sand Hollow State Park Sunday evening.

Rangers from the Utah Department of Natural Resources responded to the rollover at approximately 5:40 p.m. in a primitive camping area in the park.

The adult male driver was by himself in the side-by-side OHV on a beach just north of the Sand Pit campground, park manager Laura Melling said.

The man was making a left turn when the vehicle tipped over, Melling said.

Medical personnel from Hurricane Valley Fire and Rescue arrived and transported the man to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George for treatment. He suffered a serious injury to his arm, Melling said.

Despite the large Memorial Day weekend crowds, this is the only serious incident at the park so far this weekend, Melling said, adding that there have been no incidents at Quail Creek State Park, either.

“We’ll keep our fingers crossed,” she said.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

This is serious and my heart goes out to the injured. But I have to wonder…

Where is that poster (mcvande..or something) who loves to attack Mt Biking as being so dangerous. He must not be a equal opportunity blogger.
