“It was a good tournament to get our season started,” said Pine View head coach Kelly Murdock. “We had a chance to see where we are. Overall, the team played very well. Both of our outsides, Saraven Allen and Emily Lantor, played great. Amelia Goebel did outstanding in the middle. Celeste Fiame did very well setting. Our libero, Makona Santiago, had a very efficient pass rating.”
“Our service was pretty good,” continued Murdock. “But we are no longer one of the favorites going into these tournaments. We have to claw and fight to play good defense. I thought that our girls played very scrappy and dug out some wins.”
Pine View will next get a chance to avenge its loss to Enterprise on Tuesday when the Panthers will host the Lady Wolves.
“They knocked us out of the top tournament bracket,” said Murdock. “And it was definitely a match we could have won.”
Other games this Tuesday for Region 9 teams: Cedar will host Millard in its season opener; Snow Canyon will host Kanab in its season opener.
