Update: Shortly after 8 a.m. one northbound lane of Interstate 15 reopened for traffic.

Sgt. John Bottoms with the Highway Patrol Division of Arizona Department of Public Safety texted at 5:21 a.m. that a crash involving a commercial vehicle has occurred at Arizona mile marker 23 on I-15 northbound.

“The entire NB lanes of the highway is blocked and impassable,” his text states.

Alternate route and tips for drivers

To bypass the Virgin River Gorge entirely, Highway 91 offers an alternate route. The highway intersects with I-15 at Littlefield, Arizona, to the south and connects to the city of Santa Clara to the north. From Santa Clara, Sunset Boulevard connects to St. George. See map inset.

We’re told to expect long delays on 91 through spring as they widen the road. Perhaps when your articles direct us to take 91 you could give us an update on what to expect on this alternate route.

Hey here’s a wild idea Udot & Adot, maybe NOT do road contruction on our main traffic arteries at the same time? Hell, the I-15 through the gorge, and the 1-15 next to Dixie drive and Bringham, and the old 91 being all torn up, and the Snow Canyon Parkway, all at the same time?? ….Oh well, you all wanted southern California here in southern Utah, you got it..
