Driver rolls truck on I-15 minutes after being cited for speeding

ST. GEORGE – A man traveling southbound in a pickup truck on Interstate 15 lost control of his vehicle and rolled it into the median only minutes after being cited for speeding Monday evening.

At 5:45 p.m. Monday, Utah Highway Patrol responded to the accident on I-15 near mile marker 2, finding an overturned pickup truck on its side in the median adjacent to the southbound lanes, UHP Trooper Mike Murphy said.

Murphy had cited the 18-year-old driver involved in the accident for speeding just minutes before on I-15 near the Port of Entry.

The driver’s haste and frustration led to him losing control and rolling the truck, Murphy said.

No injuries were reported and the driver wasn’t cited for the accident.

“It didn’t really make any sense to cite the driver for the accident since I’d just cited him earlier,” Murphy said, “and he obviously realized his mistake.”

“This is the perfect time to let the community know that holiday travel has already started,” he said, “and drivers need to pay attention to their speed and to keep safe on the road.”

Utah Highway Patrol, Utah Department of Transportation’s Incident Management Team, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by authorities and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Ummm. Do not understand the reason for not giving a ticket for the accident. He could have taken someone else out with him.

So… Did you get where you were going on time? Nope. Some people don’t have their “Ah-Hah Moment” until seconds before their death. This kid got a really important lesson and lived to share it. Nothing is worth driving like that for.
And, in case you forgot, ………….here’s your sign.

pfffffft. here’s your sign.? Oh please give all a break. you one of the blue collar comedians now.?

Of course you cite him again, because he obviously DIDN’T “realize his mistake” or learn his lesson! If I was his Dad, I’d be glad he was OK, but wished you’d have written him another ticket.

is it haste and frustration that caused him to roll his truck? or was reckless driving and endangering others around him?
if these people can’t control their emotions, they should really not have the privilege of a drivers license, this punk should of been cited and thrown in the slammer.
a drivers license is a privilege, not a right, after seeing the way people drive around here, I really think there is something wrong with utah dmv for giving some of these idiots a license to begin with and what the heck was wrong with the utah state patrol, for not giving this idiot a reckless driving ticket?
Its when one of these idiots cause someone else to get killed, is when they start looking at the whole picture of what was wrong here.
The Saint George area is the capital of the absolute worst drivers in the world.

You see it everyday, on any and all streets in St George. A total disregard for Speed Limits, tailgating, weaving in and out of traffic. running red lights.
