ST. GEORGE — The Pine View Panthers have been very good all season long on the links.

Now, they’re going to find out just how good at the state tournament as Pine View earned the top seed from Region 9 and a gold trophy for winning Wednesday’s Region 9 Tournament with a team score of 294.

As he has all year, junior Noah Schone led the way with a 70, good enough for a bronze in the individual medals. But Schone had plenty of help, with four of his teammates shooting in the 70s at Southgate Golf Course.

Jaden Milne finished tied for fourth overall with a 73 and three other Panthers came in under 80, including Trajen Kidd with a 74, Smith Halley with a 77 and Dakota Millward with a 78. tanner Staheli was also part of the region-champion team. He shot a 95 Wednesday. Only the top four scores count as part of the team collective in each tournament.

Panthers coach Darrell Larsen, who piloted the Pine View basketball team to the state championship in March, posted on social media that this was one of the top athletic moments that he’s been a part of.

“I’ve been very lucky in my life to be a part of some great athletic moments as a player and a coach,” he posted on Facebook. “Each of those events have meant so much to me in their own unique way. Today, I must say, was one of those events.”

Larsen continued, in his post, to credit hard work by the team for the emergence this season.

“Six great young men on the Pine View golf team went out and won the Region 9 golf championship,” he said. “Noah Schone, Jaden Milne, Dakota Millward, Trajen Kidd, Smith Halley and Tanner Staheli played a great round of golf and should all be proud. I’ve watched these young men work hard and never give up. All the credit goes to them and their parents … These young men have inspired me to be an even better man, husband, father, friend and coach.”
