ST. GEORGE — One teen is without a car for the time being while two others are left needing unwanted bodywork on their cars following a three-car collision on Brigham Road in St. George Tuesday afternoon.
Around 3 p.m., eastbound traffic on Brigham Road was backed up near the River Road intersection. A white Hyundai Sonata and white Chevrolet Impala were stopped while their drivers waited for traffic to clear, but a car approaching them from behind didn’t stop in time.
The teenage driver of a Honda Accord was looking down at her car’s air conditioning switch and looked back up too late to see that traffic had stopped, St. George Police Officer Tyrell Bangerter said. The girl hit her brakes but still ran into the back of the Impala at 30 mph, pushing the Impala into the back of the Sonata.
The Impala was rendered inoperable by the collision, while the Sonata and Accord were driven into a nearby parking lot.
The majority of those involved in the collision, including the drivers, were all apparent high schoolers, Bangerter said. No injuries were reported among the drivers or their passengers.
The driver of the Accord was cited for following too closely, Bangerter said.
The Impala had to be towed from the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

It’s funny how the distracted driving citation has already become such common knowledge that people have trained themselves to never admit that they were actually twiddling with an iphone. “UHM, YEP YEP MISTER POLICEMAN, YA SEE, I WAS A, JUST-A TYIN’ MA SHOE HERE AS I WUZ DRIVIN’ ALONG AND AHH UHM, WELL A BADGER JUMPED ON MY CARS ROOF, AN UHHHH, I PANICKED, AND UHH UHM… NO NO MISTER POLICE I SURE AS HECK WASN’T A PLAYING WITH THAT THUR IPHONE NO SIR…”
THAT AND THE FEAR THAT MOMMY AND DADDY MIGHT SUSPEND IPHONE PRIVILEGES IF THEY ADMITTED TO THE POLICE
Agree, hope they check phone records. I belive it’s somewhat of a felony now and a few head’s in the basket always makes a good example for other drivers
