Just after 5:30 p.m., St. George Police officers began pursuing an orange motorcycle that was speeding on North Bluff Street. The helmetless rider fled from police, riding away at high speed and reaching behind him to remove his license plate as he did so, St. George Police Sgt. Dave Williams said.

The rider led officers on a chase down Bluff Street and then turned onto Main Street, where the motorcycle was estimated to be traveling 100 mph.

The bike was almost T-boned when the rider ran the stop light at Main Street and 700 South. Police called off the pursuit when the rider began endangering the public.

“Officers just patrolling normally through the area said the motorcycle just sort of showed up again,” Williams said. “He would just pop out of parking lots. One of the spots we saw him was on Main Street down by Denny’s.”

Williams said the bike and rider were spotted several times on St. George Boulevard, as well, always racing away even though officers did not attempt to stop him.

The motorcycle is an orange Yamaha YZF-R1 bullet bike, unknown year. The rider is wanted for numerous traffic violations, reckless driving and evading arrest.

Anyone with information about this rider or the whereabouts of the motorcycle is asked to call the St. George Police Department at 435-627-4300. Reference incident number 15P020200.

Knew someone who rode one of these. When the a cop pulled him over and asked “do you know why I pulled you over?”, his reply was “because i let you…”

Sigh….. I am responsible R1 rider here in St George. Idiots like this give all bikers a bad name. I hope they throw the book at him. I think a lot of people have an extremely negative image of riders, especially bullet bike riders, because of people like this. I hope the public knows that not all riders, especially bullet bike riders, are idiots. There are plenty of them sure – but the same could be said for automobile drivers 🙂

Is this the same Jeff that rides his souped up Moped on the city’s sidewalks when his R1 is in the shop?

      • Jeff August 28, 2015 at 9:59 am

        Never ridden a moped 🙂
