3AA South football: What to watch for in tonight’s full slate of games

ST. GEORGE — Hurricane and Skyline got it all started last night, but the rest of the state is in action tonight as the 2015 high school football season gets under way.

Tonight, 7 p.m. @ Thunder Stadium (CEC-TV, ESPNRadio 106.1 FM)
W2W4: Juggernaut 5A offense against top 3AA defense
Key Players:
Jordan – QB Drew Lisk, takes over for superstar Austin Kafentsis
D-Hills – QB Nick Warmsley, three-year starter looking to step up his game
Parry’s Line: Diggers by 12.5
AG pick: Jordan, but DH keeps it close

Judge Memorial (0-0) at Pine View (0-0)
Tonight, 7 p.m. @Panther Stadium (890-Am KDXU)
W2W4: New 3AA team Judge looking to prove itself
Key players:
Judge – FB Keola Palau, key position in the flex-bone, will get a lot of carries
PV – QB Riley Livingston, new face at the helm for Panthers after four years of Wilstead
Parry’s line: Panthers by 3.8
AG: Pine View in a squeaker

Dixie (0-0) at Springville (0-0)
Tonight, 7 p.m. @ Red Devil Field
W2W4: 10th straight year, dead even, but SHS has won 2 straight

Dixie – QB Zak Harrah, he’s got tons of help with Tre Miller, Bret Barben and Jaden Harrison
Springville – RB Scott Averett and QB Jantsen Thorpe, with Averett poised for a big year, Thorpe’s got to keep ’em honest

Snow Canyon (0-0) at Payson (0-0)

Key players
SC – Nowatzke and WR TJ Taimi, along with Jake Rhea, these guys need to make the passing game click
Payson – QB Buc Frasier – he’s a runner, but not much of a passer

AG: Yep, SC wins big

Provo (0-0) at Cedar (0-0)
Tonight, 7 p.m. @ Cedar Stadium
W2W4 – The new Red Spread offense vs. 10 returning defenders

Provo – WR Ty Jones (U commit), big target with big hands
Cedar – QB Mason Fakahua, should be 100 percent after season-ending knee injury last year
