WASHINGTON CITY — A motorcycle rider was counting his blessings Thursday afternoon after being clipped by a truck while attempting to navigate the Exit 16 on-ramp to southbound Interstate 15.

The accident, which occurred about 12:20 p.m., did not injure the rider.

“(He) got confused with the on- and off-ramp here,” Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Chris Lewis said. “He slowed down just a little bit to make sure he was getting on in the right area.”

There was a vehicle behind him that honked its horn, Lewis said. The motorcyclist moved over and a pickup truck tried to pass him.

The truck clipped the back of the motorcycle, causing the rider to lay the bike down on the pavement, which knocked an exhaust pipe loose. Lewis said the truck did not stop. The rider and witnesses were unable to get the truck’s license plate number.

The rider complained of head pain and was checked out by paramedics at the scene, but he was not taken to the hospital. He was wearing a helmet and full gear when the accident occurred, so no other injuries were apparent.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

It’s not his fault, he was probably an older man like MESAMAN, and had a medical episode. Hey MESAMAN, how come you told us you were in your 40s when you’re actually 80????
