WASHINGTON CITY – Police arrested a Washington City woman early Monday morning during a traffic stop where she allegedly told police the stolen items in her car were from her previous life.
Police initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for failure to yield in the area of 400 West and 200 South, according to a probable cause statement filed by the Washington City Police Department in support of the arrest.
Upon speaking with the driver of the vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Wrandi Lee Greenwalt, police learned Greenwalt had a suspended driver’s license.
Greenwalt also told police she had drug paraphernalia in her purse, according to the probable cause statement. Police then began a search of her vehicle.
“She stated that there were items in her vehicle that were not hers, from her previous life,” the arresting officer wrote in the statement. “She stated that her previous life was around the beginning of the year.”
Police located several pieces of paperwork and a checkbook inside Greenwalt’s vehicle that belonged to different people, according to the statement. Greenwalt informed police that the GPS unit inside her vehicle was also stolen.
“She stated that around the beginning of the year she had burglarized several vehicles in Washington and St. George,” the officer wrote.
After researching the names on the paperwork, police found that one of the individuals had, in fact, reported a vehicle burglary around the beginning of the year.
Greenwalt was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.
She was charged with two third-degree felonies for theft and possession of another’s identifying documents, along with three class A misdemeanors for burglary of vehicles and possession of another’s identifying documents.
Greenwalt made her initial court appearance Monday afternoon.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
