WASHINGTON CITY — A St. George man and woman were arrested Sunday for allegedly burglarizing a storage unit at A-Z Storage located at 1385 E. Telegraph St. in Washington.

Police responded to the storage facility Sunday evening after receiving a complaint that a man and a woman had cut the lock off an individual’s storage unit and began taking items from it, according to probable cause statements filed by the Washington City Police Department in support of the arrests.

Upon speaking with the woman, identified as 40-year-old Antonia Michelle Leavitt, and asking what she was doing at the facility, Leavitt told police she was there with Warren David Musser, 28, to pick up a compressor he needed to build a shed.

“Antonia stated she drove Warren to the storage facility and waited until someone else left through the gate,” the arresting officer wrote in the statement. “Antonia drove through the gated facility without a pass code or authorization to be there.”

The two admitted to police they had cut the lock off the storage unit, the statement said.

“Warren was taking the air compressor out of the storage unit,” the arresting officer wrote, “when the owner arrived on scene and confronted him.”

Police located the cut lock from the storage unit inside Leavitt’s car along with several other cut locks and burglary tools.

Both Musser and Leavitt were arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility.

Both were charged with third-degree felony burglary, along with three class B misdemeanors for possession of burglary tools, criminal mischief causing intentional damage to property and criminal trespass.

This is not Leavitt’s first run-in with the law, according to Utah court documents. Aside from multiple civil stalking injunctions and protective orders filed against her by both men and women, and being convicted on at least six different occasions in 2014 of violation of a protective order, Leavitt was convicted of retail theft in 2012 and assault in 2014.

Leavitt was also arrested in March for drug and drug paraphernalia possession and again for the same in May, along with theft.

Musser was convicted of drug possession in 2005, 2011, 2013 and twice in 2014, according to Utah court documents. In 2010, he was convicted of assault against a police officer and interfering with arresting officer.

The two made their initial court appearance Monday afternoon.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
