National fund-raiser for veterans hits Sunbrook next week

BOUNTIFUL – The Board of Directors of the Life is For Giving Foundation is excited to announce “Rounds FORE Warriors – An Epic Golf Adventure.”

Next Sunday afternoon, four golfers will tee off at Ko’olau Golf Course, in Honolulu. They will begin an epic golfing adventure – playing a Scramble Round of golf on one course in each of the 50 United States – all in 25 days. (Whew, that is about 600 hours) — finishing on Thursday afternoon June 18 at the world famous Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course, in Idaho.

The representative course for Utah is Sunbrook Golf Club in St. George. Foundation board president Bob Nicoll says, “We are very grateful to Colby Cowan, Director of Golf and Reed MacArthur, PGA Professional at Sunbrook Golf Club, for hosting us on Thursday, May 28, at 7 a.m.”

“Rounds FORE Warriors – An Epic Golf Adventure” is the largest undertaking ever by the Life is For Giving Foundation and 100 percent of the funds raised will benefit surviving families and the memory of those who served. The foundation is partnering with these organizations: Final Honors and Special Operations Warrior Foundation.

Of the golfing foursome, which features Allen Wakefield, Bob Nicoll, Joey Weidenhammer, and John Weiss, three are veterans. Wakefield is a retired U.S. Navy Veteran, Weidenhammer is a U.S. Army Veteran and Weiss is a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran.

The traveling “Rounds FORE Warriors – An Epic Golf Adventure” team also features the dedicated support of Jesse Knight, vice president of the Life is For Giving Board of Directors and Kim Hansen, volunteer and ASEA distributor. The team will be filming the epic adventure for a documentary scheduled to be released in late 2015.

“We are very grateful for the support and sponsorship of our three national sponsors: Cleveland Golf / Srixon, Four Peaks Brewing Company Arizona and ASEA,” said Nicoll, an avid golfer and co-founder of Life is For Giving Foundation. “Cleveland/Srixon is providing us with world class equipment to play the 50 rounds. ASEA is cellular bio-fuel, powering your cells – and your body – to perform at peak efficiency, to push harder for longer, and to recover faster. Four Peaks Brewing Company is passionately supportive of Veterans.”

“We are also thankful for the support and sponsorship of the PGA Tour Superstore, Great Shot Golf, Full Swing Golf – Anchorage, Elevate Printing, Nite Signs, Carl Johnson Photography , T. Barry Knickers, and Fitness by Andrew,” Nicoll said.
