WASHINGTON CITY – A triple-car crash occurred Saturday afternoon when one driver allegedly wasn’t paying attention to traffic and rear-ended one car that went on to rear-end the car ahead of it.
The accident occurred around 3 p.m. in one of of the eastbound lanes of Red Cliffs Drive by the Albertsons Market.
The car that triggered the collisions sustained heavy front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene. The second car also had to be towed. The third car involved in the accident remained operable.
Ed Kantor, public information officer for the Washington City Police Department, said the woman driving the car that caused the wreck was cited for following too close.
The driver and others involved in the crash were unharmed, Kantor said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
