SEVIER COUNTY – Authorities continue monitoring a wildfire in the Quakie Haven area of Fishlake in Sevier County Tuesday night. The fire destroyed two cabins Tuesday and damaged several others.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Highway 25 was closed and summer homes in the Fishlake area were being evacuated due to the fire, according to information from the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office.
The Salt Lake Tribune reported that more than 100 acres had burned as of 4:30 p.m. Winds of 30-40 mph were pushing the fire northward.
As of Tuesday night, the fire had “settled down,” according to information from the Sheriff’s Office, though the wind was still blowing.
Two cabins were destroyed by the fire and several others had sustained minor damage as this report is published. No other structures are currently at risk, according to information from the Sheriff’s Office.
Structure fire responders have left the area but wildland resources remain at the scene as of 8:35 p.m. Tuesday.
Snow was impending in the area as of 8:35 p.m., according to information from the Sheriff’s Office, and snow is currently falling in Salina Canyon.
