ST. GEORGE — The Three Corners Women’s Giving Circle has announced recipients of its 2015 grants and invites new members and grant applicants going forward.

The first recipient is Assistance League of Southern Utah, for the second year in a row, with a $5,000 grant to continue Operation School Bell, which helps disadvantaged schoolgirls buy new clothing for school.

The second recipient is Doctor’s Volunteer Clinic, with a $6,000 grant to assist women and girls living below the poverty level in obtaining treatment and assistance, both medical and mental; and help in paying for medical tests that need to be performed outside the clinic.

The third recipient is Dixie Care and Share, with grants for five $600 scholarships for women to advance their educational goals, helping them to become self-sufficient.

Three Corners maintains a membership of about 100 people from the Southern Utah, northwest Arizona and Mesquite, Nevada, areas, Stephanie Martini, the group’s founder, said. Each member pays a yearly membership fee ranging from $50-$250, depending on age and educational status. The group meets four times a year, and invites nonprofit groups to submit grant requests throughout the year; the deadline for requests is September.

Grant requests must be geared toward the safety and health, education or economic advancement of women’s issues. A committee narrows all grant requests down to five. The general membership then votes to approve three of those five. The average grant is $4,000.

The group has awarded $25,000 over the last two years, benefitting five nonprofits. Among past recipients are Erin Kimball Foundation and the Learning Center for Families.

The Three Corners Women’s Giving Circle is listed as a fund with the nonprofit Community Foundation of Utah in Salt Lake City, qualifying as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization, according to Martini.

The website states:

We seek to strengthen the influence and well-being of all women and girls in our region while helping members experience the benefits of planned giving.
