12th suspect arrested in biker club stabbing incident

ST. GEORGE – A St. George man was arrested Thursday afternoon for his alleged role in a brawl in August involving two motorcycle clubs that resulted in a stabbing. He is one of 12 people arrested in connection with the incident.

Brent Taylor, 39, was named by St. George Police in a statement released Thursday morning. Eleven others had already been served warrants and had been arrested and charged Wednesday, while Taylor was reported as still being at large at the time of the statement’s release.

Taylor was arrested and booked into jail just after 3 p.m., according to booking information. He also appeared on the Washington County Sheriff’s website as one of the county’s “Most Wanted,” but has since been marked as “captured” following his arrest Thursday afternoon. He was released from jail after posting bail.

He has been charged with a third-degree felony and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 17.

The altercation Taylor and the 11 others allegedly took part in occurred Aug. 24 shortly after midnight outside of the One and Only bar, according to a probable cause statement by St. George Police Detective Aaron Bergquist.

Two men smoking outside of the bar were allegedly overheard insulting members of the Eastside Motorcycle Club and Brothers of Legion Motorcycle Club who were currently at the bar.

A “violent physical altercation” erupted between the two men and the club members at some point which resulted in one of the men getting stabbed, the police stated Thursday.

Additional details surrounding the August incident and arrests can be found here.

Bergquist identified Taylor as a prospect of the Washington County chapter of the Eastside Motorcycle Club. In the probable cause statement, he alleged both the Eastside and Brothers of Legion clubs operated in ways consistent with “outlaw motorcycle gangs.”

Members of area motorcycle clubs have often protested the characterization when it arises.

Also arrested were Zachery Robert Babcock, Austin Wesley Sharp, Steven Perry Neal, Zachary Ross Humphries, Ramsey Joseph Campos, Scott Arthur Wells Jr., John Thomas Benyo, Chase Edward Smith, David Delmar Mangold III, David Davenport, and Heather Sheppick.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

A new holiday song: “The 12 Arrests of Bikers”. On the first arrest of bikers, the biker gang gave to me, a knife wound to the abdomen. On the second arrest of bikers, the biker gang gave to me….

I hope that there are follow-up articles on this biker stabbing. I’d much rather read about the community in which I live than every car crash that comes along.

Ya mean like some good ole church stuff? How do ya know these people in the crashes, climbing trees and stabbing people aren’t good ole church people?

  • Soaponarope December 12, 2014 at 9:53 pm

Well what if the stabbing was done because of an automobile accident. earlier in the day.? does that mean you are only interested in. half the story.?

It just sickens me that someone can stop in to have a beer and try to leave, just as this was going on outside and get arrested, slandered and have all the good they have done for this community be erased by the media and law enforcement, all because they too, wore patches on their backs. A case for some as being at the wrong place and the wrong time. Brothers of Legion are always their to help the community and are not an outlaw club as would be demontrated by wearing 3 patches and claiming territory. They do not. They are not outlaws.

“They are not outlaws” they’ll just stab you. “…are always their to help the community…” wondering how stabbing someone helped the community. Justifiable stabbing?

I think we should call in the boy scouts to put an end to these motorcycle gangs.

What a pack of losers. They’re gonna get an … whoopin’ next time. Not everyone will tolerate this level of immaturity.
