IVINS – The Santa Clara-Ivins City Police Department is currently investigating a possible hit and run that resulted in damage to city property.
Police are investigating a single-vehicle accident that occurred in the Split Rock area of Entrada. The accident occurred Friday at approximately 5 p.m. when a passenger car went off the roadway and hit a fire hydrant. When police arrived on scene, the vehicle had been abandoned, Santa Clara-Ivins Police Officer Chad Holt said.
The fire hydrant was broken off its mount as a result of the accident but there was no resulting water leak, and the accident didn’t cause any issues with the piping connected to the hydrant, Holt said.
As of 7:45 p.m. Friday, Holt said the incident is still under investigation, and no additional information is yet available.

Maybe there was a bicyclist in the road. They own the roads don’t you know?!
You can find the owner of the vehicle, but you can’t prove who was driving it ( short of a confession) genius!

Drunk driver. Had to run and sober up before they caught him/her.
They got scared and ran when they thought about all the gossip that would happen in the ward after being arrested for DWI. Possibly even losing their recommend? Now they can just claim they swerved to miss an elk and then got amnesia and wandered off into the night.
Not an elk, but a dog crossing the road for which they set out in a hot pursuit and just haven’t returned to their car from the honeymoon with the hound.
