Officers responded to a St. George residence on a theft call after a woman said her roommate, Taylor Elise Simmons, had stolen her property, St. George Police Officer Stan Thompson said in his probable cause statement supporting the arrest.

The woman alleged that Simmons had stolen multiple items from her valued at $1,500, including a lap top, iPad, jewelry, speakers, toiletries and clothing, Thompson said in the statement. The woman had recovered most of the property except for some earrings.

While Thompson was at the woman’s residence taking the report, Simmons returned home.

“(Simmons) claimed that she was “borrowing” (the woman’s) property and claimed that she did not know where the remaining items were,” Thompson said. “I checked the State Pawn website and located some earrings that (Simmons) had pawned on September 9, 2014 at McArthur Jewelers.”

Thompson responded to McArthur Jewelers and located the earrings and a pawn slip and then returned back to the residence and arrested Simmons for the thefts.

Simmons was charged with one third-degree felony for theft between $1,500-$5,000, and a class B misdemeanor for theft under $500.

Simmons was booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility on Friday. Her bail stands at $5,680, according to booking information, where she remains in custody as this report is published.

Simmons’ initial court appearance is set for Monday.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Wow! It’s amazing the extent people will go to stay current with their tithing to maintain their worthiness. Is that the situation here? I tell you, though, the women around St George are looking harder and more masculine every day.

Soooo Much for being nicer. A leopard can not change it’s spots.

Put some hair on that chest, and you’d think you were looking at a dude.

Why would an attractive person stay in St. George, when s/he can be better compensated for her/his looks and social talents two hours away in Las Vegas?

Many Southern Utah wo/men have and will continue to make this choice.

Those who cannot compete on looks and/or personality remain in Southern Utah.

Given the aesthetic advantage Las Vegas has over Southern Utah, how do we improve the quality of life here? Can we be content with the wo/men who live here, or will we continue to compare them to and hold out for the bigger, better deal?

I’ve heard that in Utah stolen and pawned merchandise is not recovered but must be purchased from the pawn shop involved. Is that true?

You people are pathetic with your religious slamming all the time. Grow up and realize that what you are doing is paramount to a hate crime…not everyone in a group is bad.

To the person(s) who have made comments about this woman’s appearance and the appearance of women (in general) in St. George; I’m certain that you are “God’s Gift to Women” and have women from here (and also from bordering states), beating down your down – just for the chance to take a selfie with you – right? Nah – I’ll bet your as unattractive – aesthetically, as you are ignorant – intellectually.
