ST. GEORGE — Two women were transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center following a collision at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Dixie Drive Thursday afternoon.
At about 4:55 p.m., a woman driving a gray Hyundai traveling west on Sunset Boulevard struck a silver Saturn that was attempting to make a left turn onto north Dixie Drive, St. George Police Sgt. Dave Williams said. The Saturn was driven by a woman who had her two children riding as passengers in the vehicle.
“Witnesses say the Saturn pulled out and started to turn and then stopped,” Williams said. “The Hyundai couldn’t brake in time and collided with the front end of the … Saturn.”
Doug Stanley, a resident of Santa Clara, said he witnessed the accident and offered his assistance to the children inside of the Saturn while the mother was being attended to by others.
“I checked the baby’s eyes, and the baby was not crying and seemed fine …,” Stanley said. “The little girl said her stomach hurt but seemed OK. I sat with them until the police and the EMTs arrived.”
The two children appeared to be unharmed, Williams said, and were picked up from the scene by a relative.
The drivers of both vehicles were transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center to be evaluated. They appeared to have sustained only minor injuries, Williams said.
Officers stood in the roadway directing traffic through the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Dixie Drive for about 35 minutes while the scene was cleaned up, Williams said. The St. George Fire Department assisted with cleanup while both cars were towed from the scene.
“The accident is under investigation right now, as far as if anyone will be cited,” Williams said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by responders on scene and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Two thumbs up to that Baja technician!!! He stopped and put his cones out and directed traffic until the police got there. Someone should call his boss and tell them. He was totally on-the-spot and super helpful!!!
Rushing to a public nursing event?
I think there have been some mothers who have gotten into trouble over that.
