Officials lift fire restrictions across region after recent rainfall

ST. GEORGE – Fire officials lifted remaining fire restrictions across southwest Utah and northwest Arizona Monday.

“Due to recent rainfall and lower fire danger conditions, Color Country Fire managers are lifting all fire restrictions on tribal, federal, state administered, and unincorporated private land in southwest Utah and northwest Arizona (Mojave, Washington, Iron, Beaver, Garfield, and Kane Counties),” Color County Fire Interagency officials said in a news release.

Lifting of the restrictions is effective immediately, fire officials said.

Though the restrictions are no longer in effect, wildfires remain a potential threat in August through October. Because of the lingering fire risk, debris burning is prohibited.

Fire officials also said incidents of human-caused fires have been minimal this year.
