WASHINGTON COUNTY – Washington City Police arrested a St. George man Monday on charges of raping a 17-year-old girl.

Ildefonso Lopez, 42, was arrested and charged with one first-degree felony for object rape and two second-degree felonies for forcible sex abuse.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Washington City Police Officer Kory Klotz in connection with the arrest, the charges stem from an investigation after the 17-year-old contacted dispatch, or 911, and stated that the man sexually assaulted her.

The 17-year-old said that the first sexual assault occurred three weeks earlier when Ildefonso Lopez groped her over her clothing, and that the second offense occurred when he touched her bare skin and entered her vagina.

“Ildefonso admitted to touching the victim’s breast and buttocks,” Klotz wrote in the statement. “However, he did not admit to touching her vagina.”

Lopez was booked into Washington County’s Purgatory Correctional Facility. According to booking information, Lopez’s bail stands at $50,000.

His initial appearance in court was Wednesday with private counsel and bail remained at $50,000.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

If he’s here illegally her family should sue the feds, since they’re complicit (not that it would help, since they control the courts and think they’re above the law, and unfortunately they are, for all practical intents and purposes, wrong as it is). Had they done their job this wouldn’t have happened (if he is in fact here illegally). Either way, lock him up for a long, long time.

Brian, you put the tard in Utard. If ignorance were currency, you’d be wealthy, the only way you could ever get rich.

I have noticed lately that the trolls have made there way here to SG NEWS. Sadly the moderating allows for rude and ignorant offensive comments. They ask for your Email address for comments ,I wonder if it was published along with your comments if you would be more polite ?

You might not like Brian’s comment but we have a right to know if this man who allegedly raped this young woman is an illegal , possibly part of the group released due to “overcrowding” in our prisons. As a woman, a citizen of St George and the USA I believe I have the right to know for my safety and the safety of my fellow citizens. My elected’s in Salt Lake and DC should be made aware if this is going on in this state. If this alleged rapist is legal I will assume he will be handled appropriately by the local authorities. However what is going on in this country with illegals requires we know what is happening and stay on top of this disaster. I am not sure what an illegal has to do at this point to be deported ,however putting them in prison to be left go to do harm to another American citizen has got to cease ,and the first step of that process is to know if a lawbreaker is legal and have they been convicted for a previous crime.

In St George, the attitude seems to be guilty until proven innocent. More than once have girls and women made claims against males only to retract their statements or had them proven false.

Missed the part about him confessing, eh?

““Ildefonso admitted to touching the victim’s breast and buttocks,” Klotz wrote in the statement.”

Either he did at least that, or he made a false statement (I don’t know why one would do thatI.

I would like to know the whole truth about this story. How did this 17 year old and this man meet each other etc? From this report it is hard to know what really happened between them. Lets be fair to all parties involved and find out what really happened before extreme statements are made. Maybe there truly was some bad behavior (not OK) but there are other reasons why this sort of thing gets reported sometimes. The truth please. I was a seventeen year old girl once and my dad told me plainly not to get myself into this kind of trouble.

Post what you feel… Retract nothing

Is the disclaimer really necessary? Really, Vagina and Buttocks? Wake up SG NEWS, the real world uses real words.

Yet, I ask what fisical evidence did they found? I know a young girl with slight downs and other issues in special education classes who has made sexual assault alligations two times and the first time she was intimidated by her persume and she changed her story to “she made it up”. Then again and this time it with other men involved and the police based on her presumed first false alligations they could not go further because it could be a lie also because their was no actual evidence for examination. The poor girl … Well she’s not a normal 17yr she’s Special Needs that has to count for something!!

  • Mary June 14, 2014 at 1:40 pm

Where does it say she’s special needs?
