Jump, dunk, dodge; indoor trampoline park holds grand opening

ST. GEORGE – Under new ownership, the House of Jump Indoor Trampoline Park, featuring jump, dunk and dodge family entertainment, will host a ribbon cutting and grand opening on Memorial Day Weekend.

Southern Utah’s only indoor trampoline park, House of Jump, has received a facelift, including a new dodgeball court and slam dunk court, new dunking hoops on the main court, a separate Birthday party area, and a new kids court.

A ribbon cutting will take place on Friday at 1 p.m. There will be free food with the purchase of admission and a special guest appearance by “Rocky,” the Denver Nuggets’ Mascot, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. An open Dodgeball Tournament will be held at 7 p.m.

The grand opening will be held on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. A Raffle Drawing will be held every hour for big prizes and free hot dogs with paid admission will be served between 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Special guests “Bear,” the Utah Jazz Mascot, and his special pal “Rocky,” the Denver Nuggets’ Mascot, will be signing autographs and performing a Dunking Exhibition on the custom designed slam dunk court from 1-2 p.m. After watching the professionals, those who have signed up will participate in an open Dunk Contest for a chance to win a basketball autographed by “Bear” and “Rocky.”

Good grief that building has seen a lot of different uses over the years! Hope they make a huge success of their business.

When will people learn these places don’t work here. Its the 3rd one. It just keeps going bankrupt, closing, someone buys the business reopens it. A bunch of kids sell drugs there, its gets shut down, over and over and over. I feel bad for the new owners, I give it 1/2 of the summer till it starts to fail. It will be closed by December. There is a very good reason its the only one in Southern Utah. Its because its a fail business idea.

Kinda like the folks who attempted to mimic a Chucky Cheese type of business – Pirate Island Pizza or Pirate Cove Pizza. It fails so let’s open another one in the same location so it can fail too. And not just pizza or jump places, how many car dealerships have opened and closed only to have another open in the same location… and also fail and close. Just stupid! Do your market research FIRST people! You’ll save yourself some money.

Some people just can’t help having vision, Betty. It’s called the entrepreneurial spirit. They have the courage to go from an idea/concept to opening a business. Some people have it in their genes. Most people don’t, which is why we’re employees instead of employers. I don’t know why some businesses failed in that spot, or any other spot. Sometimes it’s not fulfilling a need…other times it’s just the economy…or, it’s the location. In any event, any business that helps the youth of St. George is worth supporting.

Or they didn’t do any proactive research. And perhaps their family & friends (cough, cough) said “ya, that would be a great business” in an attempt to “be positive.” Meanwhile, their investment is gone and may have to file bankruptcy. Perhaps wise business counsel would be the better choice.

Roller Skating rink….that is the answer to all of our problems. If someone opens one and I am not involved I will sue that said person. Its been my idea since 2004. yes I know there have been roller rinks here before. I skated at one on college spring break in 1997. I vacationed this spot 18yrs ago. My family has been here for 20yrs. Since I have moved back I have been trying to find someone who will invest and believe in my dream. Ask anybody who knows me. Ask your kids what they would rather be doing if they had a choice. They will say roller skating!
