WASHINGTON COUNTY – Victor Iverson, the natural resource advisor for U.S. Sen. Mike Lee is leaving his post with the Senate office to seek the Republican Party nomination for Washington County Commissioner Seat B.

In working for Lee, Victor Iverson has worked across this state dealing with issues of public land, forestry, agriculture, water, endangered species, and other natural resource issues. He is prepared and experienced to be an effective county commissioner, he said in a statement released Sunday.

“This race is not about me. It is about us. It is about the idea that Washington County is a good and unique place, a place built on a solid foundation,” Iverson said. “It is a place that in many ways has been sanctified by the patriotic sacrifice of those who have gone before. It is a place where we respect each other’s values, where we welcome new people to our community, and a place where respect for limited government, individual freedom, and the values that make us strong must be a part of the way that we make public policy and decisions in our county.”
