SANTA CLARA – Mayor Rick Rosenberg, Councilman Jerry Amundsen and Councilman Kenneth Sizemore were sworn in for the 2014-18 term at a Santa Clara City Council meeting on Wednesday.
In the 2013 municipal general election, incumbents Rosenberg and Amundsen ran unopposed, while Sizemore won the seat vacated by departing Councilman Matt Ence.
“I appreciate the people’s willingness to have me become part of a team that looks out for their interests at the level of government that represents them most closely,” Sizemore said. “I look forward to working with my neighbors and friends in keeping Santa Clara the beautiful place it is.”
“(Being re-elected) is a sign that the citizenry has been satisfied with what the council is doing,” Amundsen said. “I’m happy to provide that for them.”
The Santa Clara Heights landslide, a concern of city officials for over 25 years, will be a priority issue during the new term, along with improving road conditions on Santa Clara Drive and expanding parks and trails.
Additionally, Sizemore said he will be focusing on the three main platforms of his campaign: Strengthening the city’s tax base through pursuit of more diverse development, improving “community entryways” by clearly marking city limits and installing aesthetically pleasing signs, and restoring the flood-damaged Santa Clara Arboretum.
“I look forward to the next four years,” Rosenberg said.
