ST. GEORGE – A single-vehicle rollover occurred on South Bluff Street when the driver of a southbound passenger car veered off the roadway and hit a cement barrier.
“Just after 11:30 we had reports of a single-vehicle rollover,” St. George Police Sgt Craig Harding said, who was at the scene.
“We came down here to find this brown Toyota had actually left the roadway – you can see the skid marks,” he said as he pointed to the black marks on the road, “and ran into the cement barrier and somehow overturned.”
The car came to a stop in the access road leading from Bluff Street to the Sandale Terrace office building and partially blocked the roadway.
The driver, a man in his early 20s, was pinned in the car and had to be extricated, Harding said. The driver was alert and talking to medical personnel when he was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center. Harding did not know the extent of the driver’s injuries.
“Right now we don’t know why he left the roadway,” Harding said. Speed didn’t appear to be a factor in the crash, though all possibilities are being investigated, he said.

He probably left the road because he was distracted texting. I can’t believe how many drivers I see still texting and driving. I wonder if the cops pull people over when they see this or does it take another infraction for them to get pulled over?
This young man has tuned his life around and fell alep at the wheel coming home from Work This is someone’s child and assuming he was texting (while a lot of crazy drivers do) is an insensitive comment. Thank goodness it wasn’t worse but he was in surgery for a crushed ankle and has spinal compression. We wish him a speedy and full recovery. Thank you to the rescue workers that helped him.
So, did the driver survive? Are they okay?

He’s okay. Broken ankle. Was wearing seat belt. Wasn’t texting. But thanks for assuming he was.
