The Community Center invited every resident of Washington City, along with the paying members of the Community Center, to come and enjoy the night of fun for free. All other guests were asked to pay a $1 entrance fee which then gave them the same access residents and members had to both pools, the Polynesian dancing and the western style live entertainment, a free cupcake, a free western photo from Yellow Pix, arts and crafts for kids and for the adults a pony plunge in which they all jumped in the pool to snatch up a toy pony with a special marking on it that would win them a free TV.

This year they had a western theme and T-shirts saying “This ain’t our first rodeo,” signifying their being open for five years now. Most of the Community Center staff wore cowboys hats and scarfs. Wendi Bulkley, the Washington City Community Center director, wore a big foam 10-gallon hat.

The Community Center has nearly 6,000 members and serves about 21,000 residents of Washington City. Bulkley said the attendance for the night was excepted to be around 3,000 people.

This is truly a beautiful facility! If you haven’t been there, you should go. It is open to everyone, not just residents of Washington City!
