WASHINGTON COUNTY, UT – The Healthy Dixie Council has selected Lucy Ormond as the recipient of the Healthy Dixie Award for March 2010. In less than a year, Lucy has been instrumental in getting a two-and-a-half mile section of natural trail in the Hurricane side of the Confluence Park approved and built. She also got an approved bicycle route designated in Hurricane City with donated money for signage.

“Her enthusiasm and dedication to trails, both building them and using them, is an inspiration to us all,” says Toni Foran, who nominated Lucy for the award.

“The Healthy Dixie Award is an opportunity to recognize people or organizations who are taking action to improve the health of our community,” explains Jane Lambert, the Council president. “The Healthy Dixie Council wants to thank them for their contribution.”

Healthy Dixie is a local coalition of citizens, businesses, city governments, the school district, and health entities working together to promote health and wellness. For more information, visit www.healthydixie.com.
